Brigitte,
Some of what your vet said about DMSO is inaccurate. Some humans are
extra sensitive to DMSO but it is going on bare skin. I've used it
straight on my husband and he just said it felt warm. There was no
skin irritation at all. I get it on my hands all the time - no problem.
What you have is already diluted with the aloe. It would be diluted
further by the CS. I don't think you'd need to worry about it causing
any harm. It can't carry anything over a miniscule size through the
skin. Just clean the area first if you're worried about it. If there
is any pathogen present on the skin, the CS should kill it on
contact; if it is too big, the DMSO can't carry it through the skin.
MSM would help internally and externally. It treats pain and
inflammation. I dissolve pure MSM powder in CS and then add DMSO.
I've been using this mix for years with no problem. Your dog likely
drinks the CS free choice and may not do so with the addition of MSM.
MSM is bitter so you might have to hide it in food.
