This forum is generally unmoderated, however, as a means
to combat would-be spammers, all posts from newly-registered
members have to be reviewed before they are sent to the group
or posted to the website. The moderator has a day job and it
could be several hours before your post is reviewed, so
please be patient when you make your first post.
Now a few improtant items about net etiquette and this forum...
I'd like to have a free and open exchange of information in this
forum. It is very important for us all to know about the good and bad
outcomes.
That said, please try to be fair and tell the whole story. Stick
to the facts. Dwelling on a specific disagreement and addressing
professionals as being unethical (just short of namecalling, essentially)
only dilutes factual arguments, and, indeed, has alienated some who
could potentially help us.
If anyone has a problem with a specific poster's behavior it is
best to send them a personal e-mail and say so. Better to do this in
email than fill the message queue with analysis of who is right or
wrong or acting poorly. I've seen it happen in other e-mail groups --
somehow its is easier to lapse into a confrontational mode in this
impersonal communication method. Of course its low to send email
anonymously or infuse it with hate. If you receive complaints about
your posts please try to use such criticism constructively in future
posts. Also, don't take criticism personally, its impossible to
please everyone.
It IS bad etiquette to share a personal letter or email
publicly without the author's permission. However, when you write
a letter or email consider that it might be made public; don't
write what you wouldn't want read back to you some day.
When posting a response, please try to trim the item to which you are responding. This reduces the size of the post, which is especially noticable to those receiving messages in "Digest Mode".
The volume of posts is large in this group. If you find the volume is too large to handle, you may change your subscription to get the group messages in "Digest Mode" (One or two messages a day containing several posts each), or to just read the group via the web interface (no mail). To do that, go to the home page of the group
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/surfacehippy
then select the "Edit Membership" link near the top of the page. You can change this at any time.
Welcome to the group, and good luck to all in dealing with their hip problems,
